Tapping the new shopping bag icon on Instagram Stories displays more details on the products featured from a selected number of brands.

Instagram is now giving a new feature to a few Instagram e-commerce brands to help their e-commerce efforts on the platform. Only certain advertisers can add the icon to their Instagram Stories that displays a few more details about the featured product, including various types of product information, like descriptions and pricing information for the product and even more images, and links that lead directly to the brand’s website to purchase the product.

Instagram reports that about 300 million users take advantage of Stories daily and they found that people watch Stories to learn more about brands they like. According to the company, 33 percent of users said they were more interested in a brand or product after seeing it on their Stories.

Some brands are finding more value in Instagram Stories versus their Facebook ad campaigns. One advertiser reported that it was redirecting ad dollars from its Facebook budget to Instagram after discovering Instagram Stories CPMs had become half the cost of its in-feed Facebook ads.
